2008 Week of Prayer & Camp Offering

2008 Week of Prayer for Associational Missions is May 19-25.

The RBA observes the Week of Prayer for Associational Missions during the third week of May.  A Prayer Guide for the Week of Prayer is available to help churches and other small groups such as Sunday School classes or missions group get to know the staff and ministries of the RBA better as they pray for a different mission each day of the week.  The RBA realizes that many of churches have their emphasis for associational missions at other times during the year.  The Prayer Guide is formatted so that it can be used for any seven-day period during the year.  Copies of the 2008 Prayer Guide can be ordered from the RBA office by using the order form below.

2008 Camp Alkulana Offering

The annual offering for associational missions was first received in 1949 and was adopted as policy in 1953 by the RBA.  The purpose of that first special missions offering was to care for the expenses of Camp Alkulana which had been in operation since 1915.  Over the years the annual associational missions offering has been used in different ways to support various causes, but in 2006 the RBA Administrative Council decided to return to the original intent of this special mission offering -- that being to soley support our summer ministry and outreach to inner-city boys and girls and their families through Camp Alkulana.  The work of the RBA's three Baptist Centers at Church Hill, Oregon Hill and South Richmond is funded through the regular budget of the RBA.

The goal for the 2008 Camp Alkulana Offering is $95,000.00.  Because many churches have changed the way they emphasize mission outreach and how they receive offerings for mission causes, the RBA accepts contributions to the Camp Offering throughout the year.  Members of RBA churches usually choose to contribute to the Offering through their churches.  A individual,  member or non-member of a RBA church, is welcomed to contribute on-line using a credit or debit card.  Click here for the RBA E-giving site.
